This Halloween craft has got to be one of the funnest crafts we’ve done! We’re making our own Halloween prints using a unique way of printmaking. We’re going to print Halloween characters like a ghost, witch, Frankenstein, pumpkin, skeleton, mummy, and bat using paint and a cake pan. It’s so fun and you’re going to want to keep doing it over and over. So, check out what supplies you’ll need and follow along!

Supplies Needed to Make Halloween Prints
- Cake pan
- Tempura paint
- Paintbrushes
- Cardstock paper (I used black and white Astrobright cardstock. I think cardstock works better than regular paper so it doesn’t get soggy and rip)
- Q-tips
- Paper towels
How to Make Halloween Prints
1 First, grab your cake pan and flip it over so that the bottom is facing upwards.
2. Then use the paint brush to apply paint in the shape of the Halloween character that you’d like to print. So for a ghost, apply white paint to the pan in the shape of a ghost.
3. Then, use a q-tip to draw on eyes and a mouth for the ghost. By “drawing on” you are actually removing the paint where you want the eyes and mouth to be.
4. Next, press the sheet of cardstock on top of the painted character. For the ghost, I used a piece of black cardstock so that the white ghost showed up really well. Make sure that the paper doesn’t slip and slide around. Just press it straight down to get the print.
5. Then peel that paper back to reveal the Halloween print.
6. Now repeat, the steps for any other character that you’d like to make. We made a ghost, a witch, a Frankenstein, a pumpkin, a skeleton, a mummy, and a bat. Check out all our prints below!
