How to Make Shamrock Suncatchers
- First, use the water based markers to color one coffee filter. This doesn’t have to look pretty, it can be kind of scribbled.

We colored our coffee filter with rainbow colors to kind of go with the St. Patrick’s Day themed, but you could color yours however you’d like. We also colored one with different shades of green and it turned out good too!
2. Next, fill the spray bottle with water and spray the coffee filter over top of the tray until it’s fully wet. You’ll see the colors start to mix. This is what you want.

3. Leave the coffee filter out to dry.
4. Then, use the construction paper and pencil to sketch a shamrock outline. The outline should not be wider that the coffee filter, so you may want to lay a dry coffee filter on top of the construction paper and lightly outline the filter as a guide for how large the shamrock can be.
5. Next, use the scissors to cut out the shamrock outline. See the picture below for reference.

6. Once the coffee filter is completely dry, add glue to the back of the shamrock outline and glue it to the coffee filter.

7. Then use the scissors to trim off any coffee filter that’s showing in the outside of the shamrock outline.

8. Lastly, tape the shamrock suncatcher to a window to see the light shine through! Check out our final shamrock suncatchers below!
