Ok it’s that time of year again when I start sharing all the simple and spooky Halloween crafts! So I just had to share this super cute pom pom spider. Check out how to make it!
What you’ll need:
- Black yarn
- 2 pipe cleaners
- Scissors
- Googly eyes
How to make a pom pom spider:
1. First, cut the 2 pipe cleaners in half to create 4 shorter pipe cleaners. These are going to make the spiders 8 legs.
2. Next, use the black yarn and start wrapping it around the center of all 4 pipe cleaners to bind them together. This is the start of your pom pom.
3. Then, place two fingers on top of the started pom pom and keep wrapping the yarn around your fingers in the shape of an X. See the picture below for reference.
4. Keep wrapping the X shape for about 20-30 times.
5. Next, pull your fingers out of the X and tightly wrap the yarn around the center of the X about 10 times. This needs to be tight to keep the little strings in place once we start to cut the yarn in the next step.
6. Then cut all the yarn loops which would be the four tips of the X shape
7. Trim the yarn ends to make the pom pom rounded
8. Then add googly eyes to the pom pom
9. To finish, bend each of the pipe cleaner ends downward in an L shape to form the spiders legs
These turned out so cute! You could even attach a clear fishing line to these and hang them from a light fixture for some spooky decorations.
