With St Patrick’s day right around the corner, we’re breaking out our pots of gold and rainbows for a fun coin hunt (that I had to make educational 😉).
I found a 30 count bag of these coins and a 5 count bag of these miniature pots at our local Dollar Tree for a $1 each. It’s hard to beat a $2 game!
For this activity, I just:
1. Made a list of the sight words my Kindergartner is currently learning (and a list of letters that my 3 year old is learning)
2. Wrote the sight words on a sticker label and stuck it to the front of a plastic coin
3. Hid the coins throughout the house
4. Each kid had to find the coins listed on their sheet, read the sight word (or letter), and collect it in their pot
5. The first kid to collect all of the coins listed on their sheet wins!
6. Then expect to REPEAT! My kids love a little competition, so they kept wanting to play this game for over an hour!
I mentioned that I adapted this game for my 3 year old who is currently learning her letters. So here’s a picture of her Letter Coin Hunt sheet
You can adapt this game to anything your child is learning too such as shapes, letters, numbers, sight words, colors, etc.
I hope your kids have as much fun playing this game as my kids did!
