With Easter right around the corner, my family is doing all the Easter bunny crafts! So I had to share this simple bunny watercolor painting using plastic Easter eggs. This craft is perfect for kids that are learning how to use watercolor paints. Watercolor paints can be hard for kids to navigate, but this simple painting was easy enough for my 4 year old to complete. So come on, let’s give it a try!

Supplies Needed for the Bunny Watercolor Painting
- Watercolor paper
- Watercolor paints – The watercolor paint palette linked here is so good! It has so many different paint colors which can add so much depth to a painting. You have to eye check it out!
- Paintbrush
- Water and water cup – you have got to check out this brush cleaner and water dispenser. This is just genius! It dispenses fresh water after you clean your brush so your water cup doesn’t get murky and affect the color of your paint.
- Small plastic Easter egg
- Larger plastic Easter egg – you’ll need two different sizes to make the bunny’s head and body
How to Make the Watercolor Bunny Painting
1. Grab the larger Easter egg and open it so you have just one half.
2. Paint the circular edge of the Easter egg half. See the picture below for reference.
3. Press the painted edge onto the watercolor paper. This is going to be the bunny’s body.
4. Now get the smaller Easter egg and paint the inner edge.
5. Press the painted egg above the larger circle but overlap the circles just slightly. See the picture below for reference. This smaller circle is going to be the bunny’s head.
6. Next, get the paintbrush wet and rub it over the area where the circles are overlapping. This will spread that dark paint line out so it’s not so harsh. This is starting to form the bunny’s back.
7. Continue to use the water and paint to fill in the two circles.
8. Paint two bunny ears on top of the bunny’s head. See the picture below for reference
9. Next, paint the bunny’s surroundings. In our painting we added green grass and a blue sky.
10. Next, paint on the bunny’s fluffy tail and allow the painting to dry. Check out our final bunny watercolor painting below.
That’s it! Easy right? Check out my 4 year olds final artwork below!
