Supplies needed for the baby chick craft:
- Printed Baby Chick Egg Craft PDF – you’ll be able to download this a little further down
- Tip: I’ve found that the type of paper that you use to print your coloring pages out on matters! I’ve linked a great cardstock printer paper here that can be used with both inkjet and laser printers. It works great when coloring with color pencils or markers and its pretty cheap!
- Markers or Crayons – I have linked my favorite set of markers. These markers are dual tipped so there is a larger brush tip on one end and a fine tip marker on the other end. So awesome!
How to make the hatching baby chick craft:
1. Print the FREE PDF Baby Chick Egg Craft by clicking the download button below
- Tip: Print the PDF out on cardstock paper so the craft is more durable and so the shaded “glue” areas do not show through on the front of the egg
2. Using markers or crayons, color the baby chick and the egg however you’d like
3. Using the scissors, cut around the outer edges of the egg and the baby chick
4. Use the glue stick to place glue on the area that is shaded and labeled “glue.” This is going to be the back of the egg.
5. Take the bottom half of the cracked egg and place it on top of the egg you just put glue on. Make sure that the bottom rounded edges line up together. This is creating a little pouch for the baby chick to sit in.
6. Line up the top half of the cracked egg and place a hole punch on the small dot that is present on the left.
7. Use the metal fastener to push through the hole punch and fasten the top cracked egg to the back bottom egg portion
8. Now you can place your baby chick in the bottom egg pouch and close the egg. When you “crack” the egg and open it up, a little baby chick will pop out!
